More Baby Chicks!

I mentioned in an earlier post that we were going to get more chickens.

We had around 28 chickens earlier this summer and somehow are now back down to around 20-22.

We didn't really plan on getting more chicks this year, but when I went to runnings and saw them...well I just couldn't resist!

Please welcome the newest dozen!

These babies will need to stay inside in our basement with a light for warmth for the next 6 or so weeks. Once they have feathers, they will be too big for this tub and will be able to flutter out (we have a baby gate overtop to keep them in there). But, they will be moving out to the small coop in our  pasture before it gets too cold. If it's TOO cold, we'll put a light out there for them.
