Canada - Day One

Our 4th of July looks different this year. We were supposed to be on a week long trip with friends. But it got canceled because my friends haven't forgiven Steve yet.

My mom and sister wanted to go to Toronto to eat and so we figured this would be a good time. I had taken the whole week off so I had the time.

It was a quick 2.5 day trip, but it was fun and it was really nice to spend that time with my mom and sister. We ate a lot of good food and the girls did really well.

The hardest part is waiting at the restaurants while we wait for a table to open up.

The best part are all the little stores and shopping areas with things we don't see in the States. When I was a kid, we'd go maybe once or twice a year. My dad loved eating all the delicious Chinese food offered all over the place.

I was excited to share this with my kids. I knew they wouldn't exactly appreciate it the way we did when we were younger, so we also found things for them to do, like the aquarium. Jennifer looked it up and we planned to make a visit there.

The very first day, before even checking into the hotel though, was for curry crab.

Every time I've visited this area of Toronto (Markham, more specifically) we go to this Vietnamese restaurant that offers the most amazing crab specialties.

We get the curry crab every time.

I can't even talk about it, it's so good.

Steve got a lemon-pepper version since he's not a fan of curry.

Check in at the hotel isn't until 3pm, so after lunch, we walked around a bit to look around. We also had to make a stop at Pacific Mall, which has like 700 Asian vendors.

Always needs to stop and get a Boba Tea

After a little shopping and walking around, it was time to head to the hotel to check in and relax a little before dinner.

Having Wiener with us go for walks several times a day.

New Jammies!

The big dogs got boarded. Wiener got to come along and experience a hotel for the first time!

Always nice to have space to spread out.

They always find the weirdest places to hang out.

She went from a mill dog to a hotel dog.

Day one was a success!

Day two will be more food and the aquarium!

Strawberry Picking

We love strawberries.

We buy them weekly, except maybe in the winter when they are harder to come buy and more expensive.

I remember being a kid and going to the strawberry patch to pick fresh strawberries. I have fond memories of that.

So when my mom moved home, I knew it'd be a tradition I wanted to start with my girls and her.

Ava doesn't do that well in the heat and she was being extra lazy, so she opted to stay home while Mila and I met up with my mom.

it smelled amazing

We love the funny shaped ones.

They were absolutely delicious and I was able to share with a few friends. I dropped some off with the Schimpfs and then Mila's BFF. She was headed there for a sleepover that night, so I thought it'd be a nice thought to bring them a tray.

We ate a bunch but they were starting to get really ripe, really fast, so I was able to freeze a bunch too.
