OK, THAT'S ENOUGH

Every year we get a storm in March.

Every year.

A true Rochesterian cannot officially declare it Springtime until we've experienced a last-minute storm in March.

We've had some lovely days in the 60's and even 70's.

And then we saw the news.

We were expecting another snow advisory for this week.

The last week in March.

The snow started Sunday and lasted until Monday.

And it's been on and off all day.

And it's fucking 17 degrees outside.

I'm fucking over it.

WUT

It's currently blustery as fuck out right now and we're in a winter storm advisory until like 8pm tonight.

Ugh. I'm so ready for this to be over.

Working Out - 92 Weeks Into My Fitness Journey

Has it REALLY been 92 weeks? It's so hard to believe how much my lifestyle has changed. 21+ months of continued dedication and self care.

Sleepover + Movie Night

Our girls love having sleepovers.

With each other.

With us.

With friends.

I have very fond memories as a kid having sleepovers with my sister and with my friends. So many late night talks and stupid giggling. There's nothing better.

I never had sleepovers with my parents, though. They just weren't those parents.

This past weekend the girls and Steve made plans to have a sleepover in our living room, with a movie.

I was invited.

I am, however, realistic and thanked them for the invite, but told them I'd watch the movie with them, but will be sleeping in my bed.

Ava's response: yeah, Daddy warned us you'd probably say that. LOL. They know me too well.

Their movie of choice?

Richie Rich.

GREAT FLICK.

The girls made it through the entire movie and we started it late - around 9pm. Steve fell asleep within the first 15 minutes of course.

But, I retired to my bed right after the movie ended and went to bed.

I woke up to Steve laying next to me and I joked that he should sneak back out there and lay down so the girls would think he was there the whole night.

I went grocery shopping and when I came back, I found Steve out laying on the floor with the girls. I asked "oh did Daddy make it all night?" and little Ava's voice "yep" hahahaa.

Memories being made 💗

Country Kids

These kids, man.

It's always something.

Now that the weather is breaking, we are pretty much forcing the girls to go outside.

They've been cooped up in our house for way too long and now it's time to just get the fuck outside and play. Go away. Go find something to do.

I had to run a quick errand after work yesterday and when I came back, Steve was on the quad coming up back around the house.

He meets me at the truck and just shakes his head.

"Your kids dude...." is all he could say.

Both girls come around the corner, muddy as hell, proud as FUCK saying they caught a mouse.

AGAIN.

A live one, you guys.

Explain to me how two small girls can grab a live mouse fast enough? With their BARE HANDS?

And this isn't the first time! The last time she caught a live mouse, she hid it upstairs under a light in a small cage with grass and guinea pig food and some water. Like WUT.

We explained that she cannot keep these little guys, that they have families they need to go home to. So we let them keep him/her for a few minutes and then they had to let him/her go.

Just look at their faces, lol. So proud of themselves! And yes, that's mud on Mila's face.

I'm not sure if I should be proud or horrified.

10

What on Earth do you do for a 10 year old?

Back in the day when things were different we had wanted to bring Mila to NYC to the American Girl Doll store for that experience.

That's not going to happen this year for various reasons, but it's still a great idea. I hope to bring the girls to NYC at some point soon.

We thought about an indoor water park, since we know it's likely to still be cold and gross in April. We'd have to commit to a couple-night stay for it, if we do it.

I don't have much time left to plan so I need to get on it!

We are also considering the aerial ropes course near our house. Mila's best friend did that for her birthday a couple of years back and they all really enjoyed it.

Lots of options, but I need to focus! Mila will be happy and surprised with anything we do, I'm sure.

Spring is Right Around The Corner

You guys.

I can almost smell it.

It's March.

Ok, so March is generally known in our area to SUCK when it comes to weather.

The Ice Storm of 1991 was in March. Our entire area was struck down by sheets of freezing rain and sleet and snow and everything was covered in ice. It caused so many outages and many families were left without hot water and electricity for a week or more.

My family was lucky in that we only went 3-4 days without electricity (I think).

My dad's job had power and such, so I remember going down there and even bringing the family dog, Snowball along to hang out.

March usually has one bad snow storm or something - it always gets worse before getting better.

But, that being said. Spring is almost here.

I had to run errands yesterday and the store was overcome with Spring stuff and gardening stuff.

I failed to have a garden last year, and I'm really excited to get one going this year.

I want to start with some seeds in the basement with my grow light and then transfer outside.

We also need to get mom's garden going - I vowed to help her get organized this year.

As soon as the weather breaks and we get a few nice days in a row, I want to get working on the boat. I want to clean her up and get all the grime off the bottom of the hull.
