I can almost smell it.
It's March.
Ok, so March is generally known in our area to SUCK when it comes to weather.
The Ice Storm of 1991 was in March. Our entire area was struck down by sheets of freezing rain and sleet and snow and everything was covered in ice. It caused so many outages and many families were left without hot water and electricity for a week or more.
My family was lucky in that we only went 3-4 days without electricity (I think).
My dad's job had power and such, so I remember going down there and even bringing the family dog, Snowball along to hang out.
March usually has one bad snow storm or something - it always gets worse before getting better.
But, that being said. Spring is almost here.
I had to run errands yesterday and the store was overcome with Spring stuff and gardening stuff.
I failed to have a garden last year, and I'm really excited to get one going this year.
I want to start with some seeds in the basement with my grow light and then transfer outside.
We also need to get mom's garden going - I vowed to help her get organized this year.
As soon as the weather breaks and we get a few nice days in a row, I want to get working on the boat. I want to clean her up and get all the grime off the bottom of the hull.
We got lucky on Sunday with a 70 degree day. I think it actually took the record with a high of 73 in some areas.
We took the dogs for a walk around our property - the first long walk in a long time (for Bella, at least, lol).
It was muddy, disgusting, WINDY, but warm as fuck.
And the sun was shining.
It was lovely.
I didn't bring my phone, so I didn't get any good pics.
Tons of dead ash trees on our property fell from the several wind storms we've had. Some bigs ones too that we'll need to take care of soon.
We got the chickens all good to go with fresh food and water (I've been going out and refilling, but everything needed a good rinsing out).
We then had a nice, low key Sunday and actually got to go antiquing.
The girls had spent the night at mom's again, since they begged me.
I love walking around looking at antiques, while sipping my coffee. It's so relaxing.
I love coming across old things from my childhood.
I had this exact piggy bank as a kid.
And all the crazy shit from the past.
Steve's grandpa had a table like this only it was white and blue. |
And then there was a pair of these lamps. Like wut? 😂 |
It's supposed to snow this week.
March in Rochester. It'll be 51 this week and we'll also have accumulation.
Go figure.
