She Shed!

Let me start this post by writing - I DID NOT ASK FOR THIS. My husband does think of these things himself and I do get to reap the benefits.

Ok, now that we got that out of the way, I'll tell you how it started.

Steve approached me some time in the last couple of months (he's was on his 'heaven week' so he had some time to think. LOL) about building me a "She Shed" that can house my gardening tools and supplies, chicken feed and supplies, etc. Right now we have a metal cabinet that we got for free that's set right outside the back garage door.

It works ok.

But, it's not in an ideal location. It's tucked out of the wind in a little nook behind our garage.

And it's metal. So...rust.

Also, all of our projects are tied together so we have to plan it the right way.

We've identified a location for our garden.

If the She Shed is going to house both gardening and livestock materials, it'd be nice to have it over by the coop.

The cool thing about this shed, is that Steve is going to build it from reclaimed materials, if at all possible. I don't want him to spend a lot of money on this, and I think it'll be super cool and have a lot of character if we find parts and pieces for it. Since we live where we do, we frequently will pass by someone's trash on the side of the road - lots of time it's old wood, windows, doors. All of which I'd use for this shed!

We were out driving yesterday and actually came across a downed barn that looked to have some metal corrugated roofing attached. It looked like no one had gone over to the since it fell...so Steve's going to stop and ask if it's ok if we took/bought some.

I also want to point out that I don't intend on having a couch in there. This will not be a traditional She Shed in the sense that I will go out there to relax and sip my coffee, while listening to the birds chirp.

This will be a functional shed for me, that will house all my equipment, which includes but is not limited to: my pitchfork, shovel, hose, chicken feed, supplements, scratch grains, watering can, garden nutrients, soil, composting parts/pieces, etc.

Yes, I want it to be cute.

I want window flower boxes (at least 1).

I want to put up cute signage. I actually got one when I bought feed over the weekend. Silhouettes of chickens, ducks with the words "WADDLE ON IN" so cute! Can't wait to hang it up.
