I've kinda been taking my time.
First of all, if you know me IRL, you'll know that I complain about Steve's schedule frequently.
I love it and I hate it.
I hate it because for 3 solid days, I'm solo-parenting. I know it's not even close to real-life single-parenting, but just bear with me.
Hate is a strong word.
I love it because someone is home with our kids most of the time.
They've only ever been in daycare part time.
I love that part of it.
Now that the girls are getting older and have more friends, more activities, we're nearing the time I've been dreading.
When Mile was in dance at age 3, I had to drag Baby Ava with us each week. Carrying her, our bags, holding Mila's hand, finding a parking spot, walking the 9 million steps it took to get to the building, then into the building, then the next 4 million steps to get to the dance studio. By the time we got there, I'd be sweating, huffing and puffing.
Luckily, Ava did love watching and was generally good during dance class.
Then, we did gymnastics for 16 weeks and I think the girls really liked it. It took some time for Ava to warm up, but she ended up liking it and asking for us to sign her up again.
So, when I got the email about Soccer registration, I knew I had to do it. Like NOW. Mila had asked a few times already this year about not forgetting.
I knew I wouldn't be able to get away with "oh I forgot" for another season.
It's just tough because it's one practice a week, plus a game on weekends. The good part is that games are on Sundays, so Steve can go to every one.
Practices are during the week, so hit or miss.
Now that Ava is older, and easier to bring places, I went for it.
Soccer starts September 22 and goes until October 27.
I'm so pumped for her!
Steve went out and got her a soccer ball right away so they could practice together.
So cute.
We had her very first practice today and girlfriend rocked it!
She needed new cleats, of course. And pink. Of course ;)
We ran into her friend from K, so it was nice to see a familiar face!
I was SO PROUD of this girl for going at the ball like she did! Completely surprised me! (Pink hoodie - it was raining!)
I really can't believe she didn't complain about the rain. LOL. She did GREAT!
Listening to coach. His son happens to be the dad of one of the kids from Mila's first grade class.
The girl in yellow, up front is a beast. She's freaking GOOD. Her mom said she has 2 brothers, and she practices a lot.
Get at it, girl!!
She said she loved it and I hope she continues to! It was fun to watch. But, um, I can see myself being THAT mom yelling and screaming. Steve, was of course, cool as a fucking cucumber. As per usual. I was on the edge of my seat. LOL, it's only their first practice.
But they did so well!
I am super, duper proud of this girl. I am so surprised at her effort. She's not the most coordinated child out there, but she really did great. She went after that ball and wasn't afraid. She kept up with the running and seemed to listen to the coaches.
She only had one instance of running in circles due to being chased by a butterfly.
