I'm obviously happy that we've made it this far with her (lol) and that she's SO ready to start Universal Pre-Kindergarten!
All my sadness comes purely from the fact that she's my (likely) last baby and that we are officially out of the "baby stage" (I'm sure we've been out of that stage for a while, but this feels...more permanent or finite or something).
Steve said to me a few months ago "man, I just realized she won't have any days home with me anymore - not full days" :(
When Mila did a Pre-K program, it was at a local church and it was only 3 days a week.
Ava will be going 5 days a week. It's still only half day, but still.
5 days a week.
I went to the parent information meeting last week. Steve brought her to the student orientation portion of it today. (Funny aside - he totally forgot about our 1pm time slot and was at the school to drop off their meds...and remembered that he was supposed to be there, checked the time and realized it was 1pm - he made it!)
So proud and so ready!
There's no transportation for UPK students, so I will be driving both of them to school. I'm looking forward to the additional 45 minutes we'll get each morning (versus last year!) Bus pick up was around 7:50 and we can leave our house around 8:30 to get both girls to their respective places on time (they are at the same school, but the UPK wing has its own drop off location, right by the door, so it's super convenient. I drop Mila off with the big kids at the "Link"
My baby. My Bubba. My Boobie.
You're so ready for this. You'll have a great time. I hope you make friends easily and aren't too bossy. I hope you show your teacher your true self and shine. I hope you learn to focus your energy in positive ways and be a leader. Be nice to your friends. Listen to your teachers. Enjoy every second. I hope you find something that you love. I hope UPK is everything you hope it will be.
And that's it.
I send my baby off to school and I no longer have any babies at home.
