They sent out a survey last week asking for our opinions.
After tabulating the results from that survey there are two options being offered:
1. Full time remote learning (BIG FAT NOPE FROM US)
2. Two days in person learning with three days of remote learning (This is what we chose)
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.
I mean.
I get it.
I just don't get it.
Kids have to be safe. We all have to be safe.
But.
What about the parents who literally cannot be home to teach their kids on the remote learning days?
First of all, while I was decent at it for a month or so, it's not my ideal situation. I'm not a teacher. My kids do NOT thrive with a parent teaching them. They do OK.
What if these parents have to work? And have zero flexibility?
My parents were professionals (nurse and pharmacist). It's not like either of them could just be home to teach us. If they were scheduled, they were scheduled.
Having a flexible job still doesn't guarantee that this is feasible.
So yeah. We don't know what we're going to do.
That, coupled with the fact that I do not have a job at the moment...well...it complicates things.
Or, we can just say it doesn't and since I don't a job, we can just assume I'll do the car pooling and teaching until I find a job.
That doesn't sound too horrible...
Like I said before - Steve is planning to pick up some hours at work. That, with my unemployment benefits that I should be able to get for 39 weeks (God I hope I don't need it for that long) and any contract/freelance work I can get (need to figure out how that works with UE benefits), we will be totally fine. Like, almost the same as what we were bringing in before.
But damn.
