Internal struggles, y'all.
The winter months are going to be used for bulking and eating in a surplus (or at least maintenance). I'm not trying to get big by any means, but I'm not going to be counting my macros closely or anything like that. I will continue to eat as clean as I can.
With the holidays coming up, I don't want to be too strict on myself. I already know what's good for me and I also know that a couple of days of eating more relaxed will NOT cause me to all of a sudden lose all the good that has happened in the 17 or so months.
I have some interest in hiring a nutrition coach next year. I kinda know what I'm doing, but I struggle with variety and what exact foods are good for what kinds of effort - like recovery after working out. With my numerous food allergies, I struggle with what I can eat already.
I know that I need to focus on lean proteins, but I also can't fall into the bad mindset that carbs are bad, etc. The right amount of good fats, carbs is essential to a well-balanced diet.
I still plan on working out at least 4-5 times a week throughout the winter months. I would consider 4 times on the lower side, so I will strive for 5 times per week.
Usually, it's 3 days of weight training and 2 days of Power Yoga.
I did a crazy, intense Cardio Core workout the other day - a workout solely focused on core, which I don't normally do. Normally, I will add on a quick 7 or 10-minute ab routine to the end of my other workouts and be done with it. Recently I added in weighted ab movements and really felt the difference.
So then I figured, why not spend a good 30 minutes focused on my core? What I loved about this workout specifically, is that it was core exercises without doing crunches. It was a variety of movements all about stabilizing the core and it was INTENSE. I was sweating my ass off and burned over 200 calories in like 30 minutes.
Everything just fits better. Also, still need to work on the dang glutes. |
I'm heading into week 76 kind of on the weak side.
I got my Covid Booster shot #3 Friday (Black Friday) and didn't think much of it. That night I had really bad body chills, I think I also had a fever.
I then woke up Saturday and felt like absolute shit ALL DAY LONG.
So I took a couple of rest days to let my body just relax. I swear I didn't move off the couch all day Saturday.
But, I didn't let it slow me down TOO much. I did power yoga Sunday to get myself back up and moving.
I don't mind missing Mondays, depending on how much I worked out the week before. But since I felt like shit the last couple of days, I didn't want to miss this Monday.
So up and at 'em I was at 6:30 in the morning to try to crush a workout before the day started.
But I felt weak as shit. I mean. I got through it.
I know I could've done better.
My weight is starting to creep up and I've been hovering around 114lbs for the last week or so.
I'm fine with that. I'm eating cookies and treats and enjoying myself this holiday season. I'm enjoying coffee from Dunkin and Timmy Ho's.
Don't worry, I'm still eating as clean as I can and remembering my protein.
But, I'm going to enjoy these 8 weeks of hoodies and comfy clothes.
And keep working out.
And then cut before summer.
I track my workouts and activity level with my Apple Watch and I've noticed that my workouts are lasting longer and I'm burning more calories at each workout.
I know I've been crushing it with my 20lb dumbbells and my 25lb plate and it's showing in my caloric output.
Just gonna keep it going.
