Members who sign up get a discounted rate and it happens to be on Wednesday nights, so I immediately told Steve about it. I knew he'd be pumped about it.
Mila?
Not so much.
We told her at my mom's birthday dinner that Steve could volunteer those days and help out! That totally changed her mind and she got very excited, knowing her dad would be there with her.
It starts in January and they meet 4 times, I believe. Of course, the pass we'd get is good for the season. It's just that we'd be able to meet up with school friends those evenings.
I'm excited Mila will have a chance to really get on her skis this year!
We had our first Ski Club meet yesterday and it was awesome! We got Ava her own Lunar Lift ticket (even though she didn't really need it...ugh) but overall, the kids did great.
It took a bit for them to find their ski legs again - a little wobbly at first and forgetting how to stop. Ava flew to stop a couple of times and I had to catch her a couple of times. She also managed to stop on her own a couple of times.
Mila did fantastic and followed directions well. She didn't take any crazy spills and seemed to get the whole thing about using her legs the whole way down - like if you just "let go" of your legs, you'll just go flying down the mountain.
Ava was done before we even started 😂 |
The line to rent boots and skis was SO long. People were waiting an hour + just to get their gear.
Having our own stuff is so worth it. We were able to ski and eat dinner by the time Mila's friends (the twins) got their skis and met us by the Magic Carpet. It took them an entire hour. I cannot imagine.
The girls did well for their first time out. Steve didn't ski because of his back, but we think he's at a point that next time he can probably ski with them down the easiest hill and it might be easier that way. And he also picked up one those harnesses for kids, so they will be able to go down and Steve will have more control.
Excited for this ski season! I'm even thinking about getting skis so I can try...we'll see.
