A Successful Slumber Party!

Mila had her very first friend sleepover party over the weekend. It was a complete success!

Mila is very into art these days and asked for an art-themed party. Ok, then! I love that she loves art and will nurture this as long as she enjoys it!

I had a friend at work design this for me (perks of knowing designers!)

Each girl got to take home their canvas painting, their letter and the paint palette.

All materials together cost me about $100! (Michael's, Amazon)

Candy!

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure how it was going to go. We've done plenty of playdates, but we've never had 4 girls over at the same time. They didn't all know each other from school - two were from Mila's K class last year and 2 are from her first grade class this year.

But, they all got along beautifully! I couldn't have asked for a better group of girls.

I had some activities planned, but since the weather was downright gorgeous (65 and sunny), we opted to spend some time outside first - it's not every year that Mila's birthday weather cooperates!

took a nature hike around our property

ended up at the chicken coop!

girls loved gathering eggs

We spent a good hour and a half outside before venturing in for crafts and painting!

While we were busy with painting, Steve went out and got us pizza and wings for dinner. After that, since it was still so nice out, we did some more playing outside!

Running around till the sun goes down!

This is exactly why we moved out here. Kids outside is the best!

Gator ride!

Probably the most fun they had!

they loved it!

Finding all sorts of bugs

Bonfire!

It started to get dark around 7:45, so we headed in for popcorn, candy and a movie! Mila picked The Little Mermaid.

Ending the movie with a popsicle!

After the movie, we painted some nails and then headed up to get ready for bed! It was about 9:30 when we made it upstairs.

I wasn't going to put a lot of rules on the girls - I didn't want to helicopter. I did tell them to get along, be nice and if anyone needed me, to come down and get me. I told them I'm not going to break up every little fight they have and to work it out.

Getting comfy!

I did have to go up 2 times to have them quiet down. I'd say it was around 11:30pm by the time they fell asleep! I thought maybe they'd sleep in.

Nope!

Up at 6:40! Ha!

Bella getting some snuggles

A little early morning cartoons

Breakfast!

And, finally, cupcake decorating!

All in all, we had a great time! The girls had a blast and I had fun, too! They let me hang with them for the most part and I really enjoyed it. They were super nice to Ava too, and made sure to include her in everything!

It couldn't have gone any better, really! I'm so glad they all had fun. I did go back and forth a lot (in my head) on how much supervision they needed. When it's just my two kids, they are out there alone a lot - intentionally. But with other peoples' kids...I wasn't sure! So I hovered around for a bit...then walked back to the house. I did yell out a few times to "be careful on the monkey bars!" because ugh, I know a lot of kids break arms on the monkey bars.

Other than that...I pretty much let them have at it! They all had fun, I think.

Now, tomorrow is Mila's REAL birthday and we're letting her dictate what our day is like tomorrow.

I'll update with a new post! Should be interesting!
