We Love it So Much

I've always wanted to have a vacation to look forward to each year.

You know, those family vacations that you take each year to the same place.

I've never done that.

My family never did that.

I always wanted to rent a huge house in North or South Carolina and spend a week on the beach.

The problem?

Those houses are meant for like hoards of people.

Not just the four of us.

Even if there was something smaller, the price for being on the beach (which is what I want) is pretty expensive.

So realistically, we would only do it if other families would go.

And it just never happened.

And then we were invited to go to Alexandria Bay with our friends for the 4th of July.

And it was simply amazing.

We used this trip to see if we were "boat people".

If we could spend a day on the water and our kids could handle it.

We could.

While we were up there, Steve started to look for boats online.

There are a few options out there in our price range.

I want an open bow and a back platform for either laying or jumping off of.

Needs to have decent upholstery.

Does not need to be new, just in good shape and well maintained.

Because we all loved it so much (friends included), we've already booked and confirmed an entire island for next 4th of July.

It's actually not the island we had originally planned on, because of the available dates and the need to spend a full week there.

We found another great one with plenty of space, beautiful landscaping, on 2.4 acres.

It's legit a private island, so we get the entire place to ourselves.

Absolutely amazing.

And so fucking bougie.

But honestly, with 3 families chipping in...it's really not that bad.

It's roughly $350 per night, per family.

We are extending the trip by one day, since the 4th falls on a Sunday next year. So 4 nights, 5 days.

It has one main house and a guest house that sleeps up to 10.

This one is cool because we can swim right off the docks and there's room to dock boats and the jet ski.

It's a year away and I'm already excited. LOL.

We'll also have a boat by then, so that's also exciting to think about!

Like, are you serious?

Here's the view from the other side. Notice the ladder for swimming (my red arrow)

I don't want to go nuts for the next 360 days...but GAH.

Now, on to my boat research.

Steve may be dragging his feet (promises to have a boat by our vacation) but I want one now. Before summer ends.

That's my goal. We'll see if I can convince him.

Stay tuned.
