It was super cute and it was totally workable...for a while...
Until I started to work from home and actually needed a real office that could be closed off.
I really enjoy using it when it's quiet. It's a cute little nook that I find to be a productive space for me.
With the current situation of COVID and how cases are on the rise and just keep going...(our county is OK, since we're pretty rural, but most of our family/friends live in the next county, which parts of have been designated ORANGE...) there's a real chance I will NOT be returning to the office any time soon.
Like at least until Spring 2021 if that.
Maybe when the vaccine comes out...
But, until then, I need a space. I usually shuffle around the house - from the kitchen island, to the couch, to the loft, to the guest room...
Having two screens is SO convenient. I haven't been using it much since I've been kind of a nomad and just using my laptop wherever I was in the house. Having conference calls and sharing my screen however...was a challenge. I didn't like NOT being able to see people when I was sharing my screen.
Steve and I discussed it and we'll be doing a very small renovation.
We are going to remove the desk (his prototype) and he wants to build me another one. Except it'll go in the guest room instead. We're going to make that into my office.
We're going to put Steve's recliner in the loft, along with either a bean bag chair or another "kid friendly" type of chair.
For Christmas we got the girls a smart TV (Black Friday sale - $99!) to put up there and they will have a little "pre-teen" hang out area (I can't believe I just typed that...WTF). Don't get me wrong, they still play with lots of toys and love playing "baby doll" with their babies so it's not like they aren't interested in that stuff - they are! Instead of them taking over my space, it's time to give it back to them ;) they are in fact, the reason we bought this house....
We also got this TV stand from Wayfair that will also serve as some storage.
The pigs will also move into the office with me, since there's space. And I'll be able to shut the door.
Working from home when people are home and dogs are running around our wood floors...it's very loud.
We are thinking about putting the queen bed in Ava's room (her room is bigger than Mila's) and putting the twin bunk beds in the office - so that the office is big enough for my new stuff. We'll see. I haven't decided for sure on that yet.
We'll do the "reveal" probably Christmas morning - so when they wake up, they will see it when they leave their bedrooms. Ugh that sounds like a lot of work (to get done very quietly when they are sleeping - haha!) Or maybe we'll do the "lazy parent" thing and just do it for them right before and surprise them on another day.
