I'd say we got maybe 1.75 days of nice, sunny weather out of the 4 we were there.
We woke up to gorgeous sunshine Sunday morning.
FINALLY |
An absolutely stunning view |
Steve and Andy. I've known Andy since I was 10. His kid is 12 now. Fucking weird.
Steve and Ava having a sweet moment over pancakes. |
Haha. This is Emily after Andy starting calling for her. |
working on them #tanlines |
This was the best investment. The kids used this a LOT. |

So, before this happened, as we were heading out to Lake of the Isles, Rich must have hit something with his propeller and it was NOT working the way it should've been working. So we had to swing back. We gathered up everyone while Rich and Trista went to get the boat out of the water to take a look.
When they got back (with no boat) we wanted to level set and figure out what to do next.
<we didn't know it at the time, but it turns out his engine? propellor? whatever....is considered a total loss....so....yeah>
Rich took it surprisingly well, so we opted to head out to Potter's Beach. It was still only 1pm and we had plenty of warm weather left to enjoy.

One of the most gorgeous rides... |
#mybubba |
brought the kids over to the rocks to jump and didn't want to leave his drink behind. |
We spent a few hours at Potter's and then made the trek back to our island. We wanted to eat some dinner (steaks, salt potatoes and corn!) before heading out for fireworks.
They do fireworks at Boldt Castle (they didn't last year) and our island was pretty much across from the castle.
I didn't get a pic of the actual fireworks because I wanted to enjoy the moment. I sat with Ava and Mila sat in the back with Steve. It felt like we were LITERALLY INSIDE THE FIREWORK as it went off. It was absolutely the most stunning fireworks I've ever seen and it's probably because we were so freaking close.
I'm sure my and Ava's faces were a sight to see. Mouths hanging open with bright, wide eyes. Soaking in the moment.
Other than Rich's boat issue, it was a really, really nice day.
We had to get the pontoon boat back to Aqua-Mania by 8:30am. Because we didn't have Rich's boat to get our stuff off the island, we had to pack our shit up and be OUT OF THERE by like 7:45am.
We did it. The boys pulled the boat into the marina at 8:30 on the dot.
And Steve went ahead and booked us the best boat they have - the brand new deck boat. Outrageous.
Here's to next year!
