Gong Gong Comes For A Visit

We haven't seen my dad in a few years. I'm not sure how it went by so quickly, but life happens and before you know it, YEARS have flown by.

We went to visit my dad (and mom at the time) in Las Vegas when Ava was 23 months and Mila was about 4.5.

So, like forever ago.

Before THAT, my dad came out to visit when Ava was born, so almost 2 years prior.

Life just happens and then COVID freaking happened and that added a year and a half to our separation.

ANYWAY.

My dad called a couple of months ago and said he'd be coming out to visit!

YAY!

We are excited to see him and I'm just hoping I can keep him busy for the 10 days he'll be in town.

He will be turning 77 while he's here, so that's exciting. We'll be celebrating by taking him out to dinner. My sister also plans on sleeping over here during the week while he's here so we can all be together.

I took PTO on two days next week to hang with him - hopefully the weather cooperates too! Dad has been suffering in 100+ degree weather out in Vegas, so high 70's and sunny should be a nice break for him.

Also, nothing like getting the house ready for a parent to visit.

Not only did I clean all 3 bathrooms and get the house in order, I enlisted Steve to fix our faucet and shower head upstairs.

The girls haven't been using this shower for quite some time - they find it easier to shower in our master bathroom, but we've since changed that now that they can shower without any help. It's honestly been too long.

Their shower head worked, but for some reason was LOUD. Something was causing a very loud screeching noise and it was just irritating. Plus, the shower head didn't detach at all, so it wasn't super convenient when having two girls with long hair.

Removing old stuff

Mila had to help

My dad's flight landed at 9:05pm so I had the day to make sure the house wasn't destroyed.

Well.

I was also working and had the girls home with me.

The constant interruptions, even when I've explained what I needed in terms of no interruptions for some of the day...it's just too hard.

"Mom look at this!"

"Mom, watch this!"

"Mom, Mom, MOM!!!"

We got through the day and I went and picked up my dad at the airport.

We had to wait until his luggage came through, which TOOK FOREVER. LIKE WHATTTTT.

We got home around 10:45pm and went straight to bed.

This is when the girls woke up and got to see Gong Gong for the first time.

Conversations over breakfast

Always lecturing about something

Jennifer is coming over today and spending the night. Then she'll come back over Saturday with her boyfriend, Rob to hang.

We plan on going out to dinner next week for my dad's 77th birthday too!

Looking forward to spending some quality time with Dad.
