Welp. The start of my kids' Spring Break has been busy.
Steve went up to the SNIRT Run on Saturday with some of the guys.
Having worked both Thursday and Friday, he had to stay up late to get the 4 Wheeler ready to go.
He was out the door Saturday at like 5:30am to meet up with some of the boys to head up together.
While he was gone, the girls and I also had a busy day planned.
My BFF from high school turned 40 and her husband texted me last week to invite me over for her surprise party!
So the girls and I headed over there around 3pm and met up with my friend's sister and parents on the side of the road. The party was being hosted at her in-laws. I was also friends with her SIL from like middle school/high school, so it was nice to catch up!
Once we got the OK from SIL who was trying to keep Gretchen in the house (she was trying to get out to her car to grab her phone and everyone was trying to keep her in the house while we pulled up).
She walked out and she was surprised!
I brought balloons and a bouquet of tulips (her favorite flower).
We spent a few hours hanging, chatting, and catching up.
There were a bunch of kids there, too, so that was fun to watch them all play.
What's even funnier, is that each of the kids are clones of the parent that went to the same high school. I joke that we should line them up and post to a HS facebook page to have people guess who the kids are because it's so dang obvious.
It was a chilly afternoon, but once the sun was shining, it was lovely. There was a slight breeze that would send chills up our spines and make us run for the house, but, all in all, it was a lovely afternoon! I'm so glad we're able to spend these milestones together.
In the card I gave her, I also gave her a bunch of pictures of us from high school. Like 25 years ago. WHAT?
We left after Mila ate a couple of slices of pizza since my mom was making dinner for us.
We headed there and the girls were sleeping over. It had been a couple of weeks since their last sleepover and they and my mom were getting antsy.
I dropped them off and then headed to Trista's to craft with her and Emily. We are DIY-ing some decorations for our Schitt's Creek themed graduation party for Trista. Girl's getting her MASTER'S DEGREE in May!
The boys actually made it back shortly after I got there. We finished up our crafting and went out to drink with the boys in the barn.
Since we didn't have kids, we were able to relax a little. It was a nice time! More pizza and snacks and good laughs.
Since we will be out of town on Mila's actual birthday, we celebrated with my mom and sister on Sunday.
Steve and I were able to sleep in since the girls slept at my mom's the night before. Well, I can't say sleep in, since that rarely happens anymore.
I got up and made it to Wegmans by like 9am. On a Sunday.
I wanted to get it out of the way, but at the same time....all those people who are also there on a Sunday morning. Why aren't these people at Church?
Anyway, once back home, I unloaded the groceries, cleaned out the fridge, fed the chickens and made a super late breakfast for me and Steve.
After we ate, we headed back to pick up his truck from our friend's house and then were heading to my mom's for Mila's birthday celebration.
Lotsssss of driving this weekend.
Steve stayed at our friend's house for a bit while I headed to mom's.
Got the rib roast in! Everyone in the family is obsessed with beef. |
I made Funfetti because the girls can actually eat it and they love the frosting. I brought my own cupcake wrappers and had exactly 24. I love when stuff like that happens. |
Ok - so exactly 24 cupcake cups? I also had exactly 1/2 cup of oil in this container. Weird, right? I thought so. |
Mom made a strawberry shortcake for us. |
The girls played and hung out while me and mom cooked and baked. This is my favorite stuff to do. We had on Spring Baking Championship in the background and just enjoyed the day!
My sister and Rob made it over and then we got to business. Mila wanted to open presents before dinner, so we went ahead and did that.
10 years old! (Next Saturday) |
Popo just handing Mila her gifts lol |
A SINGER sewing machine! She got a lot of cloth and fabric and she's SO excited to start making clothes for her dolls. |

10 Years Old! Holy shit! |
The girls are off all week and Steve is only working Thursday and half of Friday. The girls are sleeping at Popo's Wednesday and then Steve is picking them up Friday before he heads home and we all get in the car to head out.
Happy Spring Break everyone!
