I just haven't had the time.
We got 12 more babies.
Remember when I mentioned getting new baby chicks after cleaning our basement?
We actually did get them, but I've been so dang busy, I haven't spent any time with them.
I mean, of course I'm taking care of them and keeping them fed and watered, but these guys are barely being handled. My first few flocks of babies were handled so much, it made them super friendly chickens.
My current flock isn't that friendly a flock. My white crested polishes are friendly, but the others kind of just run away.
Sigh.
Anyway, we moved them outside into our little coop this past weekend.
It was legit 88 degrees out on October 1.
Figured may as well.
We did put a heat lamp out there with them since they are still kind of little. They DO have all their feathers, so they really are fine.
Look how cute!
Here you can see the small, grey coop with the babies in it. They will stay in there for a while and get acclimated to the older chickens.
We've had some decent weather here so far this October. We have a lamp out there to keep them warm, but I feel like it hasn't been needed. Maybe at night. We've had some nice 60-70 degree days here.
