We wanted to get up and moving early on Saturday. The forecast showed sunny skies and a high of 85.
All fucking day.
Since we had a huge breakfast yesterday, we didn't get on the boats until around 11:30. This day, we were on the boats before 10am. We grabbed easy food and got our coolers packed.
The spot where we anchored was only about 20 minutes away. There was no beach, but it's an area where we can anchor with other boats and swim, play, etc. while folks went around on all the toys.
The water was SO warm.
This stud.
We went through Millionaire's Row and these houses. Holy shit.

We made sure to pack enough stuff for a whole day on the boat. We had 5lbs of lunch meat, bread, mayo, hotdogs (Rich bought a boat grill), fresh fruit, and a million snacks and drinks. It. was. awesome.

Trying to whip Steve off! We didn't go crazy because we had babies on the boat, but the big boys did go out later to cause trouble.
We might actually rent this entire island next year. It has one main house that sleeps 6, a guest house that sleeps 4 and another guest house.
Imagine the fishing on this island!

MY HEART.
Back at the condo, we prepped for dinner. Since we went all out for a few meals, we decided ordering pizza and wings would be a good way to wrap up our trip. This way we don't have to worry about cleaning up after cooking.
It stayed light out until well past 9pm. Which was awesome - the kids were all out and fishing, playing, etc. with each other into the night.
Ava caught her first Bluegill!
We did something super redneck. We let the kids ride in the back of the pickup to go down and get ice cream. It was a 20 second drive. And Steve and I sat on the outside edge.
The bonus is that our friends had the condo next to ours. So we had this ENTIRE dock to ourselves. It was huge and amazing to be able to hang there and all the kids just played. The one drawback was that it's wood. Old wood that hasn't been maintained, so slivers were a THING. One of the kiddos (not one of ours) got one so bad he had to go to the ER for lidocaine. Mom is a nurse but it was so deep she needed to be able to numb it to get it.
This was seriously one of my favorite vacations EVER. Like, ever, ever. (Also, do you see my BF Frank second from the right? Wearing Steve's hat - which he gave to him. That boy deserves his own post.)
There's something to be said about "Friends who become Family" and that cannot be more true in my case.
I'm a person who does not just think "blood family is family" because I know biological families members who are horrible to each other. I'm grateful to have a group of friends who really do feel like family to me. There's something about growing up with this bunch of boys since we were all little. I'm grateful they are all with amazing partners who have become my lifelong friends!
They've seen me at my worst, they were all at my wedding (well, most of them!) I hope this tradition continues on for many years to come.
Happy 4th everyone!
